YEAR 1-2 FUN STICKS
Fun Sticks is a progressive programme that will introduce your child to hockey through basic fundamental skills and fun hockey games. This programme is developed for children in Year 1&2 at school and 4-6 year olds.

YEAR 3-4 MINI STICKS
Development – fairly new or new to hockey, 1/4 turf for 40 minutes, 6 aside
Experienced players – 1/4 turf for 40 minutes, 6 aside

Season: Starts Saturday 7 May, finishes Saturday 27 August
Games: Development games usually between 9am and 10.30am but to be confirmed
Games: Experienced games usually between 10.30am and 12pm but to be confirmed
Venue: NP Turf on Hobson Street.
Fees: $50

YEAR 5 & 6 KIWI STICKS
Development – fairly new or new to hockey, 1/4 turf for 40 minutes, 6 aside. Smaller field hence more touches on the ball and no padded goalkeeper.
Experienced players – 1/2 turf for 40 minutes, 7 aside. More running involved and play with a padded goalkeeper

Season: Starts Saturday 7 May, finishes Saturday 27 August
Games: Saturdays. Development games usually between 12pm and 1.30pm but to be confirmed
Games: Saturdays. Experienced games anywhere between 9am and 1.30pm
Venue: NP Turf on Hobson Street
Fees: $60

YEAR 7-8 KWIK STICKS
7 aside half field hockey 25 minute halves
Mixed gender
Where possible, grading games will be held at the beginning of season to ensure teams are at an equal ability.

Season: Starts Friday 6 May, finishes Friday 26 August
Games: Monday and Friday evenings in Term 2 and part of Term 3 2022
Venue: NP Turf on Hobson Street
Fees: $70

Please note there will be no games played on Saturday 4 June and Monday 6 June (Queen’s Birthday weekend). There will also be no games scheduled for Friday 24 June and Saturday 25 June (Matariki Weekend)

Closing tournament (Joan Hamblyn) for Year 7&8 Kwik Sticks will be held on Sunday 28 August, from 8.30am till 1pm (approximately). Entry forms for this will be sent to the coaches/managers closer to the date.

FEES
Fees are due by *Thursday 24 March at 3.00pm*. Late payments will not be accepted and your child will miss out on team selection.
Fees include affiliation to Taranaki Hockey. Once registered to play the fees will be non-refundable.

UNIFORM
Blue school hockey shirts will be provided once fees are paid and teams are finalised. Parents will need to provide sports shoes without sprigs, long blue socks, shin pads, a mouthguard and a hockey stick. (A correctly sized hockey stick should reach to the hip bone).

COVID REGULATIONS
Taranaki Hockey require all people over the age of 12 years 3 months to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to entry to their facility and activities. This means all members, coaches, officials, athletes, parents/caregivers and other visitors must be able to provide proof of their vaccination status to gain access to the New Plymouth Turf.

Under the current red light setting, numbers are restricted to a maximum of 100 people at the turf. Taranaki Hockey will be assessing what restrictions are in place at the start of the competition and make necessary
arrangements to fulfil the MOH guidelines. This may mean alterations to the draw, length of
games time, restrictions of spectators as has been the case over the past two years.

The Conditions of Entry to the New Plymouth Turf or Taranaki Hockey activities are:
• Stay home if unwell
• You must have produced evidence that you are fully vaccinated to gain access to our facility/activities
• Mask wearing is recommended
• Wash or sanitise hands before entering the facility/activities and when moving through different areas
• Scan your QR code every time you enter facility or at activities
